TrackRider+

Real track geometry. Measured

Everything in TrackRider, plus a bogie-mounted sensor that measures actual track geometry and bogie instability: provides measured track geometry comparable to the quality of laser-based systems covering: vertical/lateral alignment, cyclic top, twist, crosslevel and curvature, bogie instability checks to EN 14363, and degradation trending that gives you the ability to spot slow decline before it becomes a fault.

TrackRider+ Overview

TrackRider Plus adds a bogie-mounted track geometry sensor to the core TrackRider system, giving you access to both the vehicle’s ride behaviour and a precise picture of the track that could be causing it, all from in-service vehicles.

TrackRider Plus adds a second sensor unit mounted on the bogie (primary suspension). includes everything TrackRider already delivers and the additional sensor estimates the track parameters providing millimetre-level accuracy.

As data is collected on every run, the system can also track how these measurements change over time, building a degradation profile for each track section and giving engineers advance warning of developing faults.

More Specific Capabilities

Track Geometry Measurements

Accuracy to ±1mm
Directly measures vertical alignment (35m/70m/140m wavelengths), lateral alignment, cyclic top (4m/9m/13m/18m), twist (3m/5m) and crosslevel.
Measurements support track geometry assessment in accordance with relevant European and US standards, including EN 13848 and 49 CFR Part 213.

Operational value:

This is the same category of measurement traditionally reserved for dedicated track recording vehicles. Having access to this level of data continuously from in-service trains, provides a live, ongoing picture of each section of track covered by the fleet.

Bogie Instability Checks

Assesses bogie-level instability in line with EN 14363, building on the body-level hunting detection already supplied by TrackRider.

Operational Value:

Continuous monitoring means constant review and the ability to catch a developing issue at bogie level before escalation occurs. Helping to protect both train and passenger with early warning and decision-support data that feeds into existing safety-critical processes.

Track Degradation Trending

Uses multi-pass analysis across repeated journeys to track how specific locations change over time, flagging both sudden faults and slow, long-term decline.

Operational value:

Repeated measurements provide a history of track condition, helping maintenance teams identify deterioration and plan interventions before defects become more severe. The data can also be used to assess the effectiveness of maintenance work.

Key Benefits

Measured track geometry

precise, standards-aligned track geometry from in-service trains

Earlier identification of deterioration

daily data reveals trends not available to periodic surveys

Reduce reliance on dedicated measurement trains

get comparable data from vehicles already in service

Strengthen safety case

continuous assessment of vehicle stability using criteria based on EN 14363 for bogie and body

Maintenance prioritisation

target the sections showing genuine trending decline, helping maintenance teams prioritise investigation and intervention

Evaluation of maintenance work

measurement of track works immediately after completion enables quick evaluation of whether the work is successful or further work is required
