MoniRail is a team of solution-driven data experts, backed by 20 years of academic data as well as 50+ years of combined rail experience. Comprising of a results-driven team, MoniRail is dedicated to delivering non-intrusive track monitoring solutions, through comprehensive knowledge of the infrastructure and its pitfalls.  

MoniRail started as a spin-out company from the Birmingham Centre for Rail Research & Education (BCRRE) at the University of Birmingham. Formed in 2019, it developed an in-service train data analytics platform that works together with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to enable continuous monitoring of the track and train.

Working with the University of Birmingham underpins MoniRail’s ability to continuously develop the solution, ensuring that more data can deliver better knowledge. The algorithms they have developed are mathematically based and scientifically proven to perform successfully.
